Mahindra Thar Armada Pricing Expectations
The Mahindra Thar Armada, also known as the 5-door Thar, is set for launch in the coming months. While we have a good idea of what features and specifications the Armada will include, many are curious about its price. Based on a recent poll on our Motoroctane YouTube channel, most expect the price to range from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom). But will it really fall within this range or could it cost more? Here’s what we can anticipate, given that the Armada will be based on the Scorpio-N’s platform.
Key Considerations
The Thar 5-door, an extended version of the current 3-door model, will be built on the Scorpio-N platform, promising increased practicality. The Armada is expected to offer features such as Level-2 ADAS and a sunroof. Given these advancements, how might this impact its pricing?
Since the Armada will share its platform and powertrain options with the Scorpio-N, its price range might be similar, which is between Rs 16.64 lakh and Rs 29.94 lakh. However, recent reports suggest that the Armada will include RWD variants with the 1.5-litre engine from the 3-door Thar, indicating potentially lower-priced options. For context, the 3-door Thar is priced between Rs 13.74 lakh and Rs 21.42 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), while the 4WD variant starts at Rs 17.16 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Pricing Predictions
Considering these factors, Mahindra is likely to position the Thar Armada competitively. Expect the RWD variants to start around Rs 15 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), while the 4WD versions could range from Rs 19 lakh to over Rs 30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Engine Options for the Armada
The Thar Armada is expected to offer three engine choices:
- RWD Models: Likely to feature the 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Thar RWD, which delivers 117bhp and 300Nm of torque.
- 4WD Models: To come with the Scorpio-N’s 2.0-litre petrol engine, producing 200bhp and 380Nm of torque, or the 2.2-litre diesel engine, offering 172bhp and 400Nm of torque.
- Transmission options will include both manual and automatic gearboxes.
Additional Features
Recent spy shots of the Mahindra Armada reveal several key features. The interior layout is reminiscent of the current model but includes more premium elements, such as an XUV 3XO-like steering wheel, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Other notable features include larger 19-inch wheels, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, wireless phone charging, LED headlights, and a reverse parking camera.
As we await the official launch, these details give us a clearer picture of what to expect from the Mahindra Thar Armada. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the launch date!
